What is compost?

The word compost is coming from latin compositum which means compose. Compost is a type of organic substrate resulting from the decomposition of plant residues in a specific recycling process.

A good compost richied stable in humus substances is an I deal substrate for pots but also an additional and improving ingredient for the ground since it comes from the recycling of organic waste. It can be used in all the agricultunes since it dosen’t contain pathogens and high quantities in nutrients.

To make the compost we must have on our dispose the following materials:
A) Animal manure
Β) Other materials of animal origin
C) Vegetable residues , such as leaves, stalks and husks.
D) Mineral materials, particularly rock powders

We sould not worry that with the materials which are being placed in the compost different kinds of pathogens can be transferred in the plants. The temperatures that are being increased in the compost along with several antibiotic substances which are being produced by fungi of compost , destroy pathogens factors from viruses, germs and pests.

The time it takes to mature completely the compost it depends on its method of production, the weather conditions and it may range from one month to 2 years.

Compost is a living thing because it consists a body fertility for the ground as it provides to it all the beneficial microorganisms and alives it therefore, the health of your plants requires the use of a good compost.
